A couple of years ago I had really dry skin. I thought an easy and quick fix to this would be to go and buy some face moisturizer. Well, to my surprise there was a lot more facial moisturizers out there than I thought. And after a very long time in Ulta, the one I had finally decided on was Hada Labo's protecting day lotion.

The product comes in a very cute "Tokyo vibe" container with an easy dispensing pump. It smells a lot like sunscreen, but it guarantees "deep hydration" due to its main ingredient, hyaluronic acid. If you're anything like me you probably have no clue what this is. Well, no need to worry. The package tells you what it is. "Super hyaluronic acid is a proprietary combination of 3 types of hyaluronic acid - a naturally occurring component of skin that diminishes with age and sun exposure." Sounds amazing, right? That's not all! The package also says it's non-irritating and for all skin types.

Now, let me tell you my experiences with this moisturizer...

After a few uses, this moisturizer seemed very hydrating and went onto the skin very nicely. It didn't leave any residue or white coloring and wasn't too thick of a moisturizer.

However, after using it for a few more weeks my face started to break out and react badly to the lotion. Once I finally realized it was the moisturizer, I stopped using it and my face went back to normal. Since then, I have not used this product and use Clean and Clear moisturizer instead.

Overall, if you are looking for a good sunscreen/moisturizer the Hada Labo protecting day lotion would not be a good choice. Although it does its job of hydrating the skin, it can cause skin irritation after a few weeks. So, I wouldn't take any chances on wasting your money on this product.

I instead recommend using a moisturizer from a brand you use or have used before. This brand was new to me, so I have never used their products and didn't know how my skin would react. In the end I wasted my money and time on a product that did nothing beneficial for my skin in the longterm. So, take my advice and stick to the brands that you know work well with your skin.
